At the beach and the lighthouse
Here we drove about two hours down to Cape May, New Jersey (www.capemay.com). We walked on the beach, I jumped on top of an old military bunker that said "Keep Off," and then Gary and I climbed 199 steps to the top of the lighthouse there and took pictures of the landscape and a shot of Joan on the ground who is looking up and talking to me on her cell phone! Later we went to Washington Street Mall (www.washingtonstreetmall.com) for lunch and shopping and the start of some New Jersey rain. Gary bought some delicious fudge (we saved a few pieces for Mom) and Joan got a t-shirt. I found a little 'spirituality store' that had some really cool clocks but they were a little out of my budget. We found out later that the rain got worse and parts of NJ got around 9 inches of it by the next day.
Joan and I at the beach at Cape May, NJ. I did walk up to the water of the Atlantic Ocean and put my hand in it... There were tiny little crabs running across the sand that we almost DIDN'T see. I was able to hold this one just long enough for Gary to take a picture...
An old military bunker. This is Gary waving from the Atlantic.
From the top of the Cape May Lighthouse (www.capemaylighthouses.com), The lighthouse keeper was nice enough to take a picture of us at the top of the lighthouse. You can see the ocean behind us and the parking near the bottom of the picture. Look closely. Joan called my cell phone from the bottom and is saying "hello up there" from one hundred fifty feet below...
